Grand Lyon’s project

The Lyon Confluence project is one of the most ambitious city-centre urban regeneration projects in Europe. This site of 150 hectares will extend the centre of Lyon to the very tip of the Presqu’île peninsula that meet stringent quality criteria in terms of urban planning, architecture, environmental impact and social diversity.

RENAISSANCE project refers to the three blocks A, B and C shared among 21 buildings, 660 new homes and 18,078 sqm of services and offices. This project is the very first one in France on this scale (77,743 m2) to reduce to this extent the consumption of conventional energy (half of « RT2000 »). Innovative methods concerning both technical (bioclimatic approach, power generation, integrated monitoring systems) and social issues (tendering procedures, relationships with private developers, promotion and training activities, social monitoring...) have been developed.

This “CONCERTO district” is a leverage to strengthen the Confluence urban renewal. It gives the required tools and dynamic in order to enable Confluence to become the “first green district” certified by WWF. This dynamic has recently been recognized by the partnership set up with WFF in the framework of the “One planet living” programme.

In Lyon, innovation is more based on techical aspects because a huge metering campaign (Monitoring) has been displayed. The evaluation will enable to better understand green buildings’ behavior and the users influence from the energetic point of view.

Within the CONCERTO RENAISSANCE project, an interactive PV monitoring tool has been developed. This tool aims at:
- controlling the good performance of PV systems,
- detecting automatically any failure,
- centralising all production data on one single platform.

Click here to access the district scale PV monitoring tool.

The evaluation is aiming to evaluate building energy performances with an objective point of view in one hand, and on the other hand what was undertaken regarding the global functioning of these constructions. Every contractor owner tried their best, but knowledge and know-how may not meet the ambitious expectations.

We know that user behavior have an important impact on the performances of their buildings but that is difficult to estimate it. A single questionnaire asking about energy consumption habits is not enough. Altogether, 2,800 meters will make able to follow energy flow (meteorological data, real conditions of constructions, energy consumption) and target the maximum of « explanative parameters ».

Training sessions are suggested to inhabitants with the intention to inform them about the behavior to adopt in order to reach the optimum comfort that can offer a building with high energy efficiency.

Socio-economic researches are undertaken in collaboration with Spanish partners. It will permit to complete knowledge about user behavior impact on building energy performance.
