Ayto. Zaragoza : The “Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza” is the local government of the City of Zaragoza and its metropolitan area. The leadership of the Spanish community within this project is assumed by the Ayuntamiento at the highest level, by the City Mayor, Mr Juan Alberto Belloch Julbe. Co-ordination of the project is delegated to Mrs Maria Dolores Campos Palacio, Spokesperson of the municipal government with particular responsibility for the Environment, acting in this project through the Director of the Environment service, Mr José Ignacio Urraca Piñeiro Fuster and the Head of the Environment Service; Mr Javier Celma. The Environment service is well placed to coordinate the project as it has influence and competence across all realms of municipal activity and, with the commitment of the Mayor, will be well placed to ensure that the demonstration potential of the project is achieved and disseminated. The coincidence of the project timetable with the Zaragoza bid for the 2008 Expo is viewed with great interest from the Ayuntamiento with a view to exploiting synergies for the promotion of sustainable development.
